Icon

Description

Usage

Grab

Grab individual components or assemblies and move freely

Select the icon using the pointer

 

For Component Grab:

Hover over required component and it will highlight with a green box

oPress and hold Left Mouse and move mouse to pick up and move in current orientation

Use arrow keys to revolve 90°

Use Scroll wheel to push and pull forward and backward

Lower component toward the floor or surface of another to show a light blue square. Release to snap to surface

oPress and hold Right Mouse and move mouse to free move object

Use scroll wheel to ‘walk’ with object

For Scenery Files Grab:

Hover over component and there are 2 options:

oSelect the UP arrow key to navigate the assembly structure. Each mesh will highlight with a Grey selection box

oPress and hold Right Mouse button with the desired scenery selected and move mouse to free move

Manipulation

Provides full control over the position, orientation and sectioning of the model while presented to the user in transparent control box with various control tools

Applies to Components and Scenery. elect the icon using the pointer

 

Hover pointer over desired component and it will highlight with a green box.

Left Mouse to select

Model is displayed with manipulation box around it

oHover over icons to show manipulation type on screen

Orthogonal Move: Hover over arrow to highlight, press and hold with the left mouse and drag in that direction

Rotate: Hover over box edge icon to highlight, press and hold with the left mouse and drag in that direction 

Free Rotate: Hover over box corner icon to highlight, press and hold with the left mouse and drag in any direction 

Section: Hover over centre square icon  on box face to highlight, press and hold with the left mouse and drag to section (Only the selected individual scenery file will section, not the entire assembly if present. Multiple sections can be made) 

Grouping

Group individual components together to manipulate

Select the icon using the pointer. 

To group, select a component one at a time

oMove cursor to desired component and left click. Component will be highlighted in a coloured box

oSelect next component to group in the same manner, left click and it will highlight in the same colour box

oLeft click the Grouping icon or select another feature to stop

Future groupings will highlight in a different colour box for user reference.

To Ungroup, Left Click on the Grouping icon

oSelect the desired group to change by using the cursor and left click on any component (Note that nothing will visually change, this selects the group to edit)

oLeft click on desired components to toggle as grouped or ungrouped. They will highlight in the same colour box when grouped and the box will be removed when ungrouped.

Grouped components can now be used with other tools such as grab or manipulation

Copy Paste

Copies a component or group of components and pastes them into the scene

Select the icon using the pointer.

 

Hover over any component or group of components

Left Click to select

A new, grey box appears. Free move this with the mouse

When in desired position, right click to paste

Note that any grouped components that are copied and pasted will now form a new group

Reset Orientation

Resets the orientation of a selected component

Select the icon using the pointer

 

Using the cursor, point at a component and Left Click to reset it

Lock / Unlock

Lock the position of a component

Select the icon using the pointer

 

Use the mouse to hover over a component. This will highlight with a grey box

Left click to lock. The component will now highlight with an orange box

Left click to unlock. The component will now highlight with a grey box as before

Delete

Delete a component or scenery file

Select the icon using the pointer

 

To Delete a Component:

Hover over the component using the mouse cursor. The component highlights in a red box

Left click to delete

 

To Delete Scenery

Hover over the component using the mouse cursor.

Left click to delete

Confirm or cancel deletion when the warning message is presented. This will delete the entire assembly, not individual components within

Increment

When Grabbing components, move them incrementally rather than freely

Select the icon using the pointer. This shows a sub menu for increment distances. Select either:

 

Pre-set settings for

o20mm

o100mm

o500mm

Slider bar for custom distance

oUse the left mouse button to drag the slider to the desired distance

oOr select the custom value box to enter a discreet value between 10-500mm

Once set, ensure Grab mode is turned on using the Left Mouse button.

Hover over the component using the cursor.

oIf Ungrouped it will highlight green. If grouped it will highlight under the group colour.

Grab the component using the Left Mouse button as described under Grab

Component will move at set distances

Grab Mode Snap

Enables snapping for models to their saved location

Select the icon using the pointer. When enabled models when grabbed and moved away from their initial position now leave behind a ghost. When the model is moved towards the ghost and released the model will snap to the position of the ghost
